Harluc Projects provided project management services on the ISBL scope of the Acorn Carbon Capture and Storage project; one of the UK's flagship decarbonisation schemes, developed by Shell, Storegga and North Sea Midstream Partners (NSMP).

Our role centred on managing a Tier 1 engineering contractor through FEED, including integration of the solvent technology licensor's package into the wider plant design. A key challenge was reconciling the CCS plant's process requirements with operational constraints at the existing St Fergus terminal, balancing variable flow rates from multiple emitters with the practical realities of brownfield tie-ins on live infrastructure.

The result was a robust, deliverable FEED design, submitted in support of the project's entry into the UK Government's (BEIS, now DESNZ) Track-1 emitter project competition which was a critical step toward securing Acorn's place in the UK's carbon capture rollout.

In addition, further study scopes were managed by Harluc Projects, including the management of a Tier-1 consultancy to deliver a non-pipeline transport (NPT) study which included road and rail CO2 transport feasability.

We were also tasked with the interface management and coordination of grant funding projects, providing key stakeholder management and engagements of all grant funding scope and delivery to DESNZ.
